Sunday 5th November 2023

Dear Guest, here are some updates and information:

Zebra Crossing on Parkside Gardens

Brunswick Park councillor Paul Lemon has confirmed that work will start to install the zebra crossing on Monday 13th November.

This safer place to cross Parkside Gardens will be a huge benefit to parents and children walking to Monkfrith school, to park users, and people walking and cycling along the Pymmes Brook trail. It may even cause drivers to check their speed as they approach the crossing.

Thanks to all the local councillors who have lent their support to this project over the past decade.

Gritting

East Barnet councillor Simon Radford forwards this timely information from Barnet Council:

"We have commenced our winter gritting season.

We have created the attached information sheet highlighting:
  • When we grit
  • Where we grit
  • How we grit

More detailed information can be found on our Barnet Winter Operational Plan (WOP), details of which can be found on the Council website: Winter road maintenance: gritting and snow clearance

This year, we have set up a new gritting email box: gritting@barnet.gov.uk. This is to ensure all gritting related enquiries are logged and reviewed as quickly as possible.

Civic Awards 2024

East Barnet councillor Phil Cohen forwarded information and nomination form for the 2024 Civic Awards.

You can download it here.

"Civic award nominations are live, and will close on 31 Dec. Please do have a think about any worthy people who meet the criteria who are deserving of an award.

If you do wish to nominate please do give evidenced justification and don’t assume those on the judging panel will know the person or organisation you are nominating.

The scoring is based on your written proposal and evidence presented and could be the difference between being recognised for an award or not.

Residents can nominate worthy individuals or groups who meet the criteria. More information (and awards from previous years) on the Council's website"
